Shih Tzu

Is a toy dog breed that owes its origins to Tibet and China, they were breed by Tibetan monks and presented as gifts to members of the Chinese royal court. Called Shih Tzu Koi in traditional Mandarin, which translates to ‘Lion Dog’ as Buddha was said to have ridden to Earth on the back of a lion. Shih Tzus are breed to be loyal companions.

Characteristics: Spunky, independent, alert, happy, clever, affectionate, active, playful, courageous.

Size: Male: 7.5-11 in, Female: 7-11 in (at the withers)

Life Span: 10-16 years
